Overview
The Emergency Medicine System Disaster Medical Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for emergency preparedness, disaster response, and system-wide emergency management initiatives across the Allegheny Health Network (AHN) emergency medicine program. This Physician leader will collaborate closely with hospital, EMS, and administrative teams to develop, implement, and oversee disaster preparedness protocols, mass casualty response planning, and emergency management operations across multiple sites within the health system. The role also supports physician leadership, quality improvement, regulatory readiness, and system-wide coordination to ensure consistent, high-quality emergency response capabilities throughout the network.
Disaster medicine and emergency preparedness require experienced leadership, strong system coordination, and trusted clinical partnerships across hospitals, EMS agencies, and regional response teams. At USACS and Allegheny Health Network (AHN), leadership roles are designed to support meaningful operational impact, physician collaboration, and long-term system improvement. We’re adding an Emergency Medicine System Disaster Medical Director to support emergency preparedness, disaster response planning, and prehospital coordination across the AHN system in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Practice Highlights:
System-wide emergency preparedness and disaster medicine leadership role
Collaborate closely with AHN senior leadership, EMS leadership, and emergency medicine teams across the network
Support disaster response planning, operational readiness, education, and regulatory compliance initiatives
Serve as a network resource for emergency preparedness and prehospital coordination

What your leadership role will look like:
You’ll work collaboratively across the health system to strengthen disaster preparedness initiatives, support emergency response planning, and provide guidance to EMS and emergency medicine leaders throughout the network. This role combines strategic leadership with operational engagement, partnering with hospital administration, physicians, EMS agencies, and regional stakeholders to help ensure coordinated, high-quality emergency response capabilities across AHN facilities.

Requirements:
Board Certified in Emergency Medicine
Experience in emergency medicine, EMS leadership, disaster medicine, or physician leadership roles
Demonstrated leadership and operational experience preferred
