Position Description:

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.

The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support the Emergency Medicine services located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at Froedtert Hospital. Position will also work at Froedtert West Bend Hospital and Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital ED locations.

Primary Function/Responsibility

  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring urgent/emergent intervention in emergency environment as a member of the Department of Emergency Medicine.
  • Writes accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders.
  • Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information.
  • Facilitates and communicates with patient, family and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care.
  • Acquires information on the most current development and trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field, through educational programs, in-services, professional associates, and current literature.
  • Performs advanced procedures consistent with privileges and competency validation, including but not limited to suturing, splinting, and incision and drainage of abscesses.
  • Facilitates referral of patients to appropriate community health care resources in collaboration with social services, case management and financial counseling services.

Minimum Education:

Advanced Practice NurseMaster’s Degree or higher in Nursing
Physician AssistantBachelor’s Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies


Minimum Requirements:

Advanced Practice Nurse
Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner

Wisconsin RN License
Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License
Acute Care preferred – will consider Adult Care and/or FNP
AHA ACLS, AHA BLS, DEA


Physician Assistant
Wisconsin Physician Assistant License
Certification by NCCPA
AHA ACLS, AHA BLS, DEA


Preferred Experience:
Preference given to providers with prior experience in hospital-based care, Emergency Department and/or Urgent Care experience.
